The Santa Eulalia road gives us the opportunity to reach the high mountain located above Lima city. The road goes up through the massive Andean Cordillera offering an impressive landscape and good birding spots. The excursion starts at 840m of elevation reaching up 4,300m near the Puna plateau, over a lower pass to begin descending into the east slope foothills (check the 2 days excursion).

The Low Santa Eulalia road can be offered in a one day excursion, starting in the low part of the valley and heading up while crossing several different habitats, including arid montane scrubs, riparian thickets, streams and agricultural fields. The diversity of habitats and scenery in these first transect of the road creates an astonishing diversity of birds where several species are confined to this area and where you can find many endemic species like: Great Inca-finch, Black-necked Woodpecker, Rusty-bellied Brush-finch, Black Metaltail and Bronze-tailed Comet.

Other specialties includes: Andean Condor, Peruvian Sheartail White-capped Dipper, Giant Hummingbird, and Torrent Duck.

Other local fauna that can be found are the Peruvian Vizcacha (Lagidium peruanum), and with lucky the Pampas Cat (Leopardus pajeros)
